March 10-11, 2007
Eggs by the Bay Promotions was proud to bring Dr. BBQ (aka Ray Lampe) and his Real Deal Competition Cooking Class to the Bay Area this past weekend. This overnight class setting gave a real look into the life of a competition pit master. Dr BBQ (aka Ray Lampe) is an accomplished pit master and renowned author of several best selling BBQ books. Ray gives the experienced cook his latest tips and tricks as well as helping the new competitor gather much needed techiniques that allow them to hit the ground running in their upcoming competition careers. 2006 California Team of the Year QN4U was present to lend a helping hand, Brent and Kim Walton (Team QN4U) were graduates of Ray's class in 2003 as well.
San Jose's Napredak Hall/Park provided the perfect setting for the class of 28 to come learn from one of the masters. The weather cooperated as the camp quickly came together at noon on Saturday March 10.
Class attendees minded their pits throughout the night under the watchful eye of Ray himself. Morning came and the cooking and teaching came to an end around 2pm Sunday.
